WORLD U20: 87 countries to compete in Bangkok

Beijing Olympic Bronze medalist and current Senior (2007) and Junior (2006) World Champion Teddy Riner, from France, is expected to be the great star of this 14th World Junior Championships to be held in Bangkok from 23th to 26th November. The competition will be the greatest ever in terms of participation from athletes and countries: over 500 judokas from 87 countries will meet in Thailand.

 

The control of nationalities and confirmation of athletes will take place in th 22nd November at the Imperial Queen´s Park Hotel, Bangkok.

 

“We started an online registration and we had 80 countries and 494 athletes accredited by internet, which is very good. Seven other countries applied by other means and we expect to have the greatest World Junior Championship ever”, sais IJF General Secretary, Mr Hedi Dhouib.

 

Competition will start at 10am every day at the Rajamangala Indoor Stadium. In the first day (23th) the categories -48kg, -52kg and +100kg will compete; followed by +57kg, +63kg, -100kg and -90kg (24th); -70kg, -78kg, -81kg and -73kg (25th) and +78kg, -66kg and -60kg in the final day (26th).
