With five more bronze medals for the Greek team finished the 2nd Intgernational Tournament “Acropolis 2008” in the gym “G. Galanopoulos”, organized by HJF in co-operation with the municipality of Loutraki-Perahora. The third place in ranking was won by Sophia Zournanidi (-48 kg), Maria Tselaridou (-52 kg ), Maria Savvidou (-57 kg), Dimitra Androutsou (-63 kg) and Aris Kotanidis (-73 kg). In total, Greece gained eleven medals, one gold and ten bronze. The first place in terms of medals was taken by Spain, having won three gold, eight silver and five bronze. Then followed Turkey (2-3-3), Switzerland (2-1-1), Azerbaijan (2-0-2) and Georgia (2-0-1).
‘It was a successful tournament in all respects’, said HJF President, Vagelis Soufleris and he added `the municipality of Loutraki gave us all the means necessary to achieve a pleasant stay for all the delegates of the 18 countries that participated in the tournament. They also took care of the referees that took the exams of the European Federation. We would like to especially thank the Mayor of the city for his help. Judo has found the perfect place to be hosted in Loutraki, and promises were made for even a bigger tournament in the immediate future`.
It should be reminded that this year’s tournament was dedicated to the voluntary organization for the kids “To Hamogelo tou paidiou ”, while the exclusive sponsor was the athletics equipment company PUMA.
