Χαιρετίζω την έναρξη του Athens Junior European Cup «Iliadis Cup 2019», που διεξάγεται στο κλειστό Ολυμπιακό Κέντρο Πάλης στα Άνω Λιόσια και καλωσορίζω τους αθλητές και τις αθλήτριες που συμμετέχουν σε αυτή την τόσο σημαντική διοργάνωση, αλλά και τα μέλη όλων των αποστολών που θα φιλοξενηθούν στη χώρα μας το διήμερο 23-24 Μαρτίου.
Το «Athens Junior European Cup 2019» προσέλκυσε και φέτος το ενδιαφέρον πολλών ευρωπαϊκών χωρών. Συγκεκριμένα αθλητές και αθλήτριες από 28 χώρες θα λάβουν μέρος, γεγονός που αποδεικνύει την τεράστια δυναμική του τουρνουά, αλλά και την αίγλη που έχει αποκτήσει διεθνώς. Άλλωστε το άθλημα του Τζούντο έχει μεγάλη παράδοση στη χώρα μας και μας έχει προσφέρει πολλές και σημαντικές διακρίσεις σε διεθνές επίπεδο.
Είμαι βέβαιος ότι και το εφετινό τουρνουά το οποίο φέρει το όνομα του Ολυμπιονίκη Ηλία Ηλιάδη θα είναι απόλυτα επιτυχημένο και ανταγωνιστικό σε όλες τις κατηγορίες, χάρη στην εξαιρετική προσπάθεια των διοργανωτών και τη συμμετοχή των αθλητών-αθλητριών που φέτος ξεπέρασε κάθε προσδοκία. Εύχομαι σε όλους τους αθλητές και τις αθλήτριες καλή επιτυχία και να χαρούν τη διοργάνωση.
Statement by the Deputy Minister of Sport, Mr. Giorgos Vasiliadis
I salute the opening of the Athens Junior European Cup “Iliadis Cup 2019”, which takes place in the indoor Olympic Wrestling Center in Ano Liosia. I would also like to welcome the athletes participating in this important event, as well as the members of all the delegations to be hosted in our country over the weekend of 23-24th March.
The “Athens Junior European Cup 2019” has attracted the interest of many European countries as usual. More specifically, athletes from 25 countries will take part, a fact which proves the enormous potential of the tournament and the prestige it has gained internationally. Besides, judo has a long tradition in our country and has given us numerous and important successes at international level.
I am sure that this year’s event, bearing the name of Olympic winner Ilias Iliadis,will be thoroughly successful and competitive in all categories, thanks to the extraordinary effort of the organizers and the impressive attendance of athletes which exceeded all our expectations this year. I wish all athletes every success and to enjoy the event!
