60th EJU Ordinary Congress

In the 60th EJU Ordinary Congress held in Athens, Greece, all the Directing Committee were standing for election. No one contested the present Directing Committee and Congress agreed that the elections will be done by acclamation. Further to Mr Soloveychik´s proposal, the Congress agreed to add the 3rd Vice President, who will be mainly responsible for Marketing. The Congress also approved Mr Soufleris as Public Relations Director.

Mr Vizer, President of the IJF, was one of the Honorary Guests of the EJU at the Congress. He presented the IJF Special Recognition Award to Mr Soufleris, as President of the Host Country, and the Gold Medal to Mr Soloveychik, as President of the European Judo Union.

 

During the Gala held in the evening, Mr Soloveychik presented the following awards to representatives of their respective federations:

Best Kata Couple: Mr Iulian Surla & Aurelian Fleisz ROU

Best Organiser: EC seniors, Portugal Judo Federation
EC under23, Croatian Judo Federation

 

Mr Soloveychik also awarded the EJU Gold Medal to Mr Vangelis Soufleris, President of the Greek Judo Federation, host to the EJU 60th Congress, and to Mr Marius Vizer, President of the IJF.

 

As a token for the 60th Anniversary of the European Judo Union, the Presidents of the National Federations attending the Congress were given a copy of the first European Judo Union constitution.
